AT TSUWANO CULTURE & TRADITIONS HALL, LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE PARKING OF THE CASTLE CHAIR LIFT, ON THE WAY TO TAIKODANI INARI SHRINE.
During the Edo period (17th century), Taikodani Inari Shrine stood in a valley where taiko drums were played to signal the time of day, hence its name “Taikodani” literally meaning “The Valley of Taiko”.
Today, the beat of taiko drums can still be heard in the nearby valley thanks to the local Tsuwano Taiko group that practices at the Culture & Traditions Hall, located below the shrine.
This rehearsal hall features a stage set at the base of a small amphitheatre. During the summer months, the doors are open during practice sessions.
Please feel free to drop by and watch our rehearsals or take part in a taiko experience.
*Participation is free of charge.
*Please note that rehearsals may be cancelled depending on circumstances.
